Absolutely beautiful and haunting. Worth repeated viewings. “Tree of Life” is a quintessentially human film.
Everyone experiences doubt. Still inspires us to make the most of each moment of our spiritual journey, and challenges us to take responsibility for our own faith.
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
The core themes are solid, but the film as a whole is overly sentimental and exploits rather than builds on the tragedy of 9/11.
Hugo
A solid film that manages to be more than just a love letter to Film, Hugo paints a beautiful picture of what can happen when the generation gap is bridged.
Moneyball
Moneyball is a great film about the high cost – and the inevitability – of change. Oh yeah, and baseball.
The Artist is a masterpiece that showcases what is possible when generations work as partners instead of enemies. A surprise and treat.
Midnight in Paris
Midnight in Paris warns against the danger of nostalgia. It can anesthetize us to the responsibility we bear in the here and now. A sweet, funny film well worth your time.
Ides of March
Starring George Clooney and Ryan Gosling, Ides of March is a tragic, incisive exploration of the road to the White House. It begs the question: Just how sustainable is this broken system?
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil
You need to see Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. It’s a lot smarter and a lot funnier than anything I’ve seen from that genre in years. It’s got a great moral without being preachy. And it’s really gory too.
An entertaining, well-written and quick read that leaves you with something to chew on. Hometown Prophet is well-worth the few hours it’ll take you to finish it.
