Monica Lewinsky on The Price of Shame

Monica Lewinsky’s TED Talk is one of the most compelling and important presentations in our time.

“Anyone who is suffering from shame and public humiliation needs to know one thing: You can survive it.” ~ Monica Lewinsky

What happens when the whole world knows you for the most humiliating moment of your life? A lot of shame and despair.

If you haven’t heard of Lewinsky’s TED Talk, she speaks as Patient Zero in the world of cyber bullying. After years of silence, Lewinsky now speaks about the cost of the industry of shame, an advertising windfall for media outlet’s marketing private humiliation and fueled by internet clicks and our collective lack of compassion.

This talk is a must watch. Some of us may somehow be unaware of the cyber-bullying culture. Perhaps some of us are complicit, even unknowingly, in the shaming culture. And maybe someone sees this who is a victim. Whatever your perspective, take a few minutes to watch.
