I think my favourite Biblical villain is Saul. It could just be because there are so many stories of him being such a crazy idiot but I really love to hate him.
Saul was one of the guys I cut from the book! He’s hard not to feel for. Guy was in way over his head 😀
One of my favorites is Balaam, I grew up thinking he was a bad guy who turned good after the donkey talked to him, but then I learned he was a straight up bad guy who was so greedy for the payoff that he kept trying to curse Israel for the foreign king, even when God kept taking over his mouth and making him prophecy good for Israel. Then after all that, instead of believing God he comes up with a scheme to get Israel to abandon their God. If Balaam can’t curse them, he can at least get the cult prostitutes to seduce them and then maybe God will curse them. Seems unbelievable that all he saw God do didn’t stop him.
I *love* this! What a great read on such an overlooked character.
I like Nebuchadnezzar. Partly because his name is challenging and yet fun to say when you finally get it. His story is fascinating to me. He seems like a really conflicted guy while being the most powerful man in the world for a time. I think the most intriguing thing was the lengths that the Hebrew God went to get his attention.
I am still trying to figure out why, in the Matrix, Morpheus’ ship is named the Nebuchadnezzar. He was always presented to me as sort of a buffoon. Obviously so much more beneath the surface. Love it!
