I can’t get this song out of my mind. Unity by Shinedown is like the ultimate call to action for me right now.
Here’s my favorite part:
“Put your hands in the air
If you hear me out there
I’ve been looking for you day and night
Shine a light in the dark
Let me see where you are
‘Cause I’m not gonna leave you behind.”
So inspiring. Check out the rest of the lyrics here as you watch the video. I don’t think you need to like rock to dig this song and its message.
What song inspires you?

“Sea of despair.” Been there.
Ditto. Moment of truth moments eh?
I don’t know why, but reading along as I listened…that really made me cry. Of course, I can’t sleep, and sleep deprivation makes me emotional and weepy. Still. “And your moment of truth, Is the day that you say ‘I’m not scared'” There is a disconnect for me, a space between the time I fall in the water and the time I reach up for help. And that space is filled with fear. I am striving to move; not to wait until I fall in, but to wade in boldly, to ignore my fear, even to overcome it. Or at the very least, to put my hands in the air, and trust that I’m not alone.
It’s true that sometimes even taking one more step, putting your hand in the air, is grueling. That’s the power of this song for me. We are not alone whether we feel like we’re sinking or not. I hope everyone who listens is at least a tad inspired.
It’s hard to ask for help, too, however hard we may be struggling.
Thank you for reminding me how much I love this band.
You got it Leigh.
