Meet the Hosts
Matt is the author of a growing menagerie of books including the ever-popular “Sky Lantern.” He lives near Portland, Oregon, where the motto is “Keep Portland Weird.” He loves to write and speak, and though his cats were eaten by coyotes he still has his wife, three daughters, and three brine shrimp living in the house. He loves maple trees, speculative fiction, comic books and most birds. Also hammocks. For the last twenty years Matt’s been on staff with a Christian non-profit dedicated to helping people love God and love each other.

After a decade of teaching college courses in history, political science, and communication in Pittsburgh, Clay moved to Dallas, Texas where at least winters aren’t soul-crushing. He’s been writing professionally for 15 years or so, doing everything from journalism to corporate consulting. Along the way he published Undead: Revised, Resuscitated & Reborn—a book about zombies, God, and what it means to be alive. He loves his fiancee Jen, hockey, and Oxford commas (unlike JR.). Subscribe to his weekly newsletter American Ghosts: The History of what Haunts Us, a fast-paced primer on how the past shaped current issues. Learn more about him at ClayWrites.
