What has been your favorite part of the first year of StoryMen? What do you want to see in Year Two?

By JR. Forasteros

JR. lives in Dallas, TX with his wife Amanda. In addition to exploring the wonders that are the Lone Star state, JR. is the teaching pastor at Catalyst Community Church, a writer and blogger. His book, Empathy for the Devil, is available from InterVarsity Press. He's haunted by the Batman, who is in turn haunted by the myth of redemptive violence.

Happy anniversary, Men!

It was fun to hear how you guys came together that first time, it’s something I wondered about. And it’s funny to hear you talk about seeing each other through fan’s eyes before you met, because those are the eyes I see you all through, haha. It’s been a thrill for me any time you’re on my show – thanks for the shout-out, that was super sweet. And I’m also an MM, so how cool is that?

JR, I was trying to look up your Gravity post before I see it again, but you’re under construction. I’m excited to see what’s to come over there though. And what’s to come next in the StoryMen, um, universe. Storybook? Anyway, blank pages are awfully exciting, don’t you think?

Obviously, MM, you were destined to be part of the StoryVerse!! I’m pretty pumped about my redesign as well. It’s a lot of fun!!

And yeah, the more people I meet, the more I realize most people don’t actually think they’re as big a deal as I do!

I’ve always liked backstory episodes, and this was no exception. It’s been eye-opening to see how you’ve been able to find Jesus in places many people may not think to look. I mean, isn’t pop culture supposed to be the antithesis of all things Christian? I’ve also enjoyed listening to discussions on topics that often aren’t talked about in the church but are very relevant in a Christian’s life. It’s hard to pick a favorite part, but I really enjoyed your descriptions of historical events that should be made into movies. There’s way too much awesome history that never gets talked about.

I’m looking forward to another awesome year, and many more to come. God bless!

Thanks Noel! We realized even though WE knew the story, most of our listeners didn’t. So telling that story was a lot of fun.

Are there any other topics you’d love the show to tackle? We’re always looking for more topics to have fun with. Thanks for listening and for letting us know what you think!

After this episode, the most obvious choice would be to have Eminem as a guest on your show. But if for some reason that doesn’t work out, maybe you can try to get Frank Viola (http://frankviola.org/). He speaks/writes/blogs about moving beyond evangelicalism to a deeper Christian life.

Congrats StoryMen! I’ve been listening to the podcast since the beginning and really enjoying it. One of my favorite parts is hearing the different views and being introduced to things I might not of heard of otherwise (Undead, both of Matt’s books, JR sermons, books like Catalyst and Packing Light). Another thing that I find great about StoryMen is that even though I may not be interested in a certain subject (Like comics, you know just really not my thing) I still listen to the episode because it’s always interesting anyways! And you never know what will come up next.

Anyway, thanks for a Christian view of things on so many levels! Can’t wait to see what you guys have in store for future StoryMen episodes!
