Scary Movies, Great Monsters & Fun With Horror

Part three of my discussion with the makeshift monster squad featuring Matt Mikalatos and JR Forasteros. Check out part one and part two in case you missed them.

We filmed this last one as a sort of test webisode for a possible future podcast, kind of a pilot for a recurring program that doesn’t exist. Let us know what you think or at least chime in with selections of your own.

What selections you say? Watch this video and find out!

What are your favorite scary movies?

Ok, since there are no other comments (and also because I’ve been thinking on scary movies since I saw this yesterday), I will chime in. But I have sub-categories – sorry. Since this space is so empty right now and also you can’t stop me, I will share them all:

General Picks:
Laughter: Dead and Loving it – that’s about my speed for scary movies
Sweat: The Exorcist – creepy, gives you the chills, definitely something to think about
Shame: The Prince of Darkness – possessions, zombies, the devil, trapped people, a man made out of bugs, I can’t go on
– alternate is Ghost Ship, mostly because I’m actually ashamed that it scared me (but a guy’s face gets cut in half with a cable, so that’s pretty awful)

Zombie Picks:
Laughter: Zombieland – of course
Sweat: 28 Days Later – poor Frank!
Shame: Dawn of the Dead (2004) – super fast zoms (didn’t one come across the ceiling or something?)

Favorite Picks:
Laughter: Tremors – “they’re under the ** ground!”
Sweat: Poltergeist – just scary enough, “You only moved the headstones!!”
Almost Shame: Aliens – has it all: monsters, action, makes you jump, I love!
Shame: Carrie – slow build and creepy scary all the way through
Super-Shame: The Shining – oh my gosh

I have a lot of favorites for not liking scary movies. Hmm.

Haha, I’m laughing at the last comment of “The Shining–Oh my gosh.” You have some good ones here. Nice zombie breakdown! The 28 Days & Weeks Later zoms may not even really be zoms but they are so fast! Yes, that makes it worse. Thanks for chiming in.

(Great timing – streeeeeesssss)

Okay, but same’s true of Zombieland – a virus that doesn’t necessarily kill you? Anyway, no brain penetration needed, any kind of kill will do (but double tap that thing!). Hope you had a good flight – have fun.

I stayed at the hotel where they filmed the Shining in CO. They play the movie (both versions) on a loop on two channels in the hotel. It’s far too creepy.
