After nearly a decade of more than 1,400 shows, Stephen Colbert hosted the final episode of The Colbert Report last night as he prepares to transition into David Letterman’s iconic Late Show spot.
Colbert came to Comedy Central via The Daily Show tree, one of many correspondents for the cable hit who has gone onto great success.
As he prepared to sign off for the final time, a song broke out that allows us to accurately use the term epic. Slate went ahead and annotated the dozens of famous actors, news makers, singers, and more. And that’s before some video appearances by every geek’s favorite director and a former president of the United States.
And that’s all before Santa, America’s 16th president, and a very special Canadian all show up to magically whisk Colbert away.
